Good Monday morning, sorry, this is a day late. Anyhow, as you’ll notice the title today is sing your song, well that was part of our Church’s Sunday sermon yesterday. The title he gave it was, 20 in 20. Why that you may ask, well, because, even though it is almost the end of February, it is still close to the beginning of the year. My pastor challenged his 9am congregation and his 11am congregation to, start today, with sitting completely alone and quiet with God. Talk to him, listen for his still small voice.
I know I speak for myself and for my household, when I say that we don’t spend nearly enough actual quiet time with God, outside of church on Wednesday and Sunday. So, hence the challenge of 20 in 20.
Now, as I listened to him preach his sermon yesterday, I especially liked his words and how he put them, about how when we do start taking our alone time with Jesus, how the most free, ugliest, liar of a secretary shows up, inputting all the stuff we should be doing, listening to, all the negative stuff we probably should have dropped at the cross. That secretary I’m mentioning is Satan.
Satan was a disciple of Jesus at one time, but when he was thrown out of heaven, her wants everybody to have no part of Jesus or heaven. So, we just need to start being much more diligent in our relationship with Jesus, every day.
I, again, speak for myself and those in my household, when I say, we know that God allows bad things to happen to us, to build our faith, trust and dependence on Jesus alone. Because clearly, if we were in a world where nothing bad ever happened, yes, that would be ideal, but we’d never learn anything Jesus wanted us to learn. As I also know that God allows bad things to happen to us, to make us humble, to put our complete trust and dependence on God and God alone. Something that, especially for believers, is easier said than done.
When I said that God allows things to happen to us, both good, bad and indifferently, some are to see how we handle them, who we run to first to deal with them, some are his ways of speaking to us and granting prayers. We just need to be open and receptive to listen. As I say that, God speaks to me, sometimes I fall to listen. Sometimes,I hear the message, but fail to understand how to proceed with it.
You all are probably wondering how God speaks to me, I’ll tell you, he has set up an internal radio that no matter the time of day, there is either a full song, or certain lyrics that play on repeat in my head, every day. The music I predominantly listen to is Christian music, or something that’s playing around me. I used to get pretty aggravated with it, until I realized that, God is speaking to me, I just need to listen.
Ok, I’m done for now, some may have already quit reading earlier, sorry. Ok, before I quit, I’m leaving a link to yesterday’s sermon, broadcast live on YouTube, every Sunday morning at 9 or 11am. https://youtu.be/t8LjMsbTYmg. If anyone is interested to check our church further, go to grfirst.org.
Prayers and blessings to all and have a wonderful Monday.
