Playing catch up, again

Good morning folks,I thought I did really good last month here and then life and my migraine friend jumped in and kept me from doing much. So, I’m back, hopefully, at least once a week 😊

Ok, so since last month, I haven’t read much, I’ve listened to audiobooks I’ve listened to before, I’ve nursed my migraine, dealt with Drs who only want to feed me drugs because, “there’s not an underlying cause for migraines.” Really? So, when I met with my neurologist yesterday, she, as a PA,I guess, chose not to consult with the actual Dr there but what did I know, I’m just the dumb patient who’s in pain all the time and is irritable and “noncompliant”😠😠😠😠

Anyhow, I advocated for myself and told her that I may try the third dose of aimovig and then if that still doesn’t do anything, I’m done, somebody will have to do something different. I see my gastro Dr just after Christmas, hopefully soon I’ll get some stinking answers cuz having migraines, lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea for almost six months straight beyond sucks.

Ok, enough ranting for me. Praying for you all this week, for everybody affected by winter snow, ice and frigid temps, stay warm, and stay safe. Have a great week.

Relinquishing control

Good morning again fellow bloggers. I’m back for a touching base post. Ok, so my last post,I mentioned taking my second dose of aimovig,.

Which, still hasn’t done anything. However, I’m catching up on my show watching, watching or have enough for background noise while reading and writing.

In the meantime, I’ve been attempting for nano/flash fiction nano and so far, I’ve kept up with marking the prompts every day, and written one story, ONE story out of 15, so far here on my blog. Go look for it, it’s the post, before the sun comes up.

I’ll hopefully today be adding to my writing. I’ve also dnf’d a book,I hate dnfing books, but as a reader, what do you do, especially when you’re a mood reader?

This is the book I dnf’d. It’s only like, a 280pg book, and I made it to pg110, however, it’s very slow going, and it just couldn’t keep my attention. It was an e arc through a site that I get emails through daily called hidden gems books dot com,I love the site and they approved me for this book and it’s good, but just at this time, couldn’t keep my attention.

So, I’ve been working, very slowly, on library books, (both reading and picking them up from) the library 😊. This first week without hubby here, different, I still don’t like the change, but I’ve been.

I still have my migraine, I’ve still got the lightheadedness, dizziness, off kilter, floating/fuzziness, but have been trying to drive more. Night driving isn’t in the cards quite yet. Mom thinks it’s awesome, which it is, but, if it doesn’t go away or comes while I’m on the road and the only one in the vehicle, that could be bad. Ok, rant over.

How can one with a freaking loooooooooooong standing migraine, somewhat tolerate their phone, sometimes tv-both low volume, lower brightness and not handle a computer screen and game? Irritating 😠

Ok, that’s enough catching up for me now. Catch you all later 😊

Before the sun comes up

Nighttime is my favorite time. Although, any time of day or night seems to now be my favorite time. Gotta love insomnia. Having insomnia however, gives me prime opportune time to do stuff around the house that I haven’t done already, for whatever the reason, and with hubby asleep, the kids asleep, I can do the quiet stuff. It’s 2a.m., I’ve been up for an hour, I get dressed, grab my book, my notebook and my phone and quietly head out of the bedroom, closing the door behind me gently as not to wake up hubby. He used to be the lighter sleeper in the family, but with me being ill health for the past few months, I’ve become the light sleeper and the insomniac. After using the bathroom, I go sit with a glass of water in my recliner, turning on the lowest light in my living room so as to read and write or to work on crafts I’ve got going now that it’s pretty much winter now.

As I head to the basement, oh, did I forget to add that I also have a slight case of ADHD?🤣🤣🤣 Anyhow, off to the basement, it’s quiet down there, bright light which won’t wake anybody up, but it’ll add to my wonderful migraine. I pick an area I’ve been meaning to clean and promptly find something else I’ve wanted to do, which is start cleaning and straightening my craft area in the back left corner. As I’m straightening stuff up, I’m not really paying attention to the stairs or who might be coming down them, seems how, I’m the only one up right? I obviously hadn’t been paying close attention to my back door, in which wasn’t locked last night either, because as I’m working in the basement, someone who’s apparently been skulking around the neighborhood all week, and not getting caught-yet, slips in my home, down my basement stairs, and dead stops at the bottom.
Shocked beyond shocked at seeing a light on at now, almost 3a.m. and somebody up, at almost 3a.m., he’s got the proverbial deer in the headlights look, doesn’t know whether to turn back around and dart back up the stairs, out the door or if he should charge me-i guess I forgot to mention a few things, one, I own a gun and am licensed to carry, two, I can take even the biggest of big down in a matter of minutes, oh, and three, I’m a female, 5’2, 130lbs. None of these he knows, nor am I gonna tell him. I’ve found out which option he takes-he opts for charging me, or attempting anyway.
I have my hubby on speed dial, thankfully he keeps his phone by the bed, so when I send my message, it takes about two mins to register and wake him up, however, by the time he makes it dressed, out of the bedroom, thru the house and down the basement steps, I’ve got the intruder contained on the basement floor and 911 on their way. “So how did you know this is, has been the guy breaking into people’s houses all week honey?” hubby asks me. “Well dear,” I say, “I’ve been paying attention to the apps and the reports, however, nobody has been able to see his face on any camera.” “The back door hadn’t been locked last night, lucky break number one, and I was up because, well, I’m an insomniac.” I tell him, watching the time, my gun and the intruder’s face, his eyebrows scrunching up, his eyes looking sad and afraid. “Are you gonna shoot me lady?” he asks me, just on the verge of tears. “I could’ve but, oh, guess what, I don’t have to worry about it, because you’ll be in the safe care of the city’s finest police department.” “They’re coming to take you away, ha ha, they’re coming to take you away,he he ho ho.” “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it.” I laugh. “Lead the officers in honey, will you?” I ask my hubby.
“Good morning officers.” “Good morning ma’am, thank you for this, we’ve been trying to catch this guy all week long. We figured out it was him the second report we got and couldn’t see his face, but we identified his clothing and have been hunting for him since.” “Hmmm, well sounds like you’ve been one really-thought-you-were Houdini,” I say to him. “Look ma’am, I wudn’t tryin to hurt nobody ok, I was just looking for stuff I could take and sell for some food.” “Well tonight, you won’t have anything to worry about as far as money or food, how old are you anyway son?” the officer asked. “I’m 15 sir.” he said.
The one officer takes the kid upstairs and out my back door, while the other officer chats with me and my husband. “So, was it your plan to catch him tonight being down here, by yourself in the middle of the night?” Officer Beady asks. “Actually officer, I’m an insomniac and couldn’t sleep so I figured I’d get some things done while I was up and didn’t realize till after he was staring at me at the bottom of the stairs, that my back door hadn’t been locked. By the way, I am licensed to carry, I noticed your looking at my pistol, and my size and him laying on the floor.” “Well ma’am, I figured your husband took him down,” “no officer, that was all her. She’s not only licensed to carry, she’s trained in martial arts and self defense, and can take even the biggest, baddest, meanest of them down, in a matter of minutes.” he said proudly. “Well sure, you’ll be hearing from our city council regarding this matter. Nobody has been able to do this, ever, so, on behalf of charters whole police department and the city, thank you. Have a great rest of your night.” “Thank you officer Beady, you two also.”

Short story and other things

Good afternoon fellow blogger friends. Happy veterans day-thank you all current, former and future vets, thank you to all the vets that are no longer with us, and thank you families of all the current, future, former vets and widows of deceased vets, hope your having as great a day as God has blessed you with. I realize this is going up a bit late today, but better late than never right?

I’ve been trying to get reading in, and writing and catching up on shows, however, I’ve been also still, yet nursing this stupid migraine. I’ve just taken my second dose of my migraine med yesterday, thankfully I was able to pick it up. Thanks to aimovig for allowing people on it to gain access to the aimovig card to help with paying for it, so instead of having to pay a $60 copay for it, I only paid $5!! Then hubby had me drive home, to see if I could tolerate it while he could still be home to rescue me-i did fine. However, it wasn’t snowing, there wasn’t much traffic, it was daylight, but light still bugs my head/eyes, and it wasn’t nighttime, hence no headlights or anything, and tomorrow morning hubby is back over the road. This trucker wife doesn’t do change well, so it’ll be tough the first few weeks for babygirl and I.

I’ll have different routines to adjust to doing and not doing, there’ll be more time for writing, reading and show watching, especially if I can’t sleep at night and there’s no hubby home. However, I’m doing flash nano, along with Nanowrimo, and I’ll be doing a new post with my story prompt, so, I’ll be here shortly, let me know what ya think.

Have a great night everyone.

Back in the game

Good morning all, it’s been about, almost a month since I last posted and I guess I just needed some downtime. I’ve still been battling this stupid migraine, nausea, tired, insomnia, frustration over finances and trying to keep myself in the reading game. I have been watching a lot of booktubers on YouTube, watching my faves and some new ones. I’ll list some of my favorite booktubers:

*Webebook’n (my Facebook book group and where I started watching booktubers)

*A frolic thru fiction

*Becca and the books

*Books and lala

*Chelsea Palmer-another Facebook book group I’m in

*Codie’s book corner

*Courtagonist (if you’re interested in cozy mysteries)

*Gabby reads
*Hailey in bookland

*Kendra loves books

*Shelby Taggart reads

*Thisstoryaintover

I’ve gotten tons of book recommendations from them and I love watching them. From three of them, I got a book recommendation of never have I ever-joshilyn Jackson. That was an awesome read. I’ve been reading or listening to a lot of audiobooks, when my head tolerates it anyhow,a lot of them have been re reads, and in the words of Chelsea Palmer, “listening to audiobooks is still reading!” It’s how she reads so much and how I do read so much when I can tolerate it.

I’ve just finished the long call by Ann Cleeves
Check out this book on Goodreads: The Long Call http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43263552-the-long-call

I’m participating in the tbr jar challenge in my book club, and the long call was my first read, just picked my second read which is Birthrights-Carly rheilan…. It’s a hidden gems Arc, I’ve had it for over a month and am now halfway through it, it’s good so far, and as long as I keep in it, it’s not hard to follow. So far, it’s about Ana, this Dr in London, who isn’t able to have kids, and in the beginning of the book, which confused me, she looked pregnant, she had actually been wearing a paddy, as they call it there, but she made it herself, a fake maternity belly. I’ll leave the link for Goodreads of it here. I’ve got library books to read and more ARC s, some that have just came out and some that are backlist ARCs, that I’ve gotten from hiddengemsbooks.com and from netgalley.

Ok, I’ve ranted enough here, oh, I’m also participating in Nanowrimo also, trying to be normal despite how I’ve been feeling lately, we’ll see how this goes. Have a blessed day all.

Standing is not passive

https://youtu.be/1fP9bhZxbH8…. This came across my feed this morning and wow. This makes me wonder sometimes, in the midst of our issues, my families issues and everyone else’s, if we are standing as to battle, or if we are sitting or laying and waiting for someone else to carry us? I try to do exactly that, stands still and trusting God, but I’m gonna tell ya, even as a Christian, it’s hard.

I hope for everyone who chooses to watch/listen to this, they remember that yes, God is for us and very much with us.

Ok, just needed to share this with anyone who may have needed this who follows me. Have a wonderful Tuesday. 😊😍

Another new week

Good afternoon all, so it’s another new week, how was everyone’s last week and weekend? Great I hope. My last week was, a week. Because I’ve been dealing with health issues these past few months, I’ve, thankfully got Mom transporting my kids to and from school and church and doing grocery shopping most of the time and any other appts I may have throughout the week. Tues was tolerable, Weds absolutely sucked, as did Thurs and Friday. Yesterday wasn’t too bad and today isn’t over yet but not going real great, I mean, I went to church, using earbuds and went thru the grocery store and had lunch out and dessert at Mom’s and then it’ll be relaxing at home the rest of the night.

I’ll be attempting to take part in three readathons this month, spookathon hosted by booksandlala on YouTube, nightmareathon hosted by our book club, Jacqueline wheeler and disabilityathon,I can’t remember who’s hosting that one. I know I posted last week about posting my tbr and then I had just a crappy week, and never did.

So far, my tbr starts out with

*Cross your heart and catch your death,#2 &3 in a series by kierney Scott

*Turn of the key-Ruth Ware-this one will be the audiobook

*Uncover-Amanda linehan

These are just for starters, the first two books are physical books, an audiobook an an ebook. This is it for now, have a great night all.

Catch-up

Hello friends, I’m just touching base, seeing how everybody is, I myself, am playing catch-up. Catch-up with books and shows.

In shows, I watch, I’m caught up with NCIS, I need to catch up with NCIS:LA, NCIS: New Orleans, 9-1-1, Bull, Law and Order: SVU, all three of the Chicago’s-Med, PD and fire, let’s see, there’s a few more, FBI, and more I can’t think of right now. As far as catching up with books, I’ve got four more arc’s I need to read and review right now, plus my tbr, which I haven’t fully put together fully yet. It’s the 8th of October, I’m definitely reading mystery/thrillers for this month, I’ll post again either tonight or tomorrow, my tbr pile.

For now, have a great Tuesday.😊

Her flame-Auckland steampunk first class#1 review

Hello hello, I was gifted this ebook, her flame-Auckland steampunk first class#1, by the author in return for an honest review. It took me a bit to get to this book, it wasn’t because of the format and, honestly, it wasn’t because I don’t like steampunk. Steampunk/sci-fi, is definitely not my first pick, however, because of how this started, it piqued my interest immediately, and kept me hooked.

This book started out with, then, 16yr old Bridie, and Aurelius on a dance floor, talking. Becoming husband and wife was discussed, briefly, and then it jumps to six years later, her finding out Aurelius is coming to see her, her application to MI7, being denied, yet again. To Bridie’s surprise, he’s requesting that she go with him on this mission, or”holiday”, when in actuality, it’s a MI7 mission, which also leads them to a hotel where they are also to”fix/reconcile their marriage”, which she is enlightened to just before agreeing to go with Aurelius.

I’m now done with the book, and wow. It was steamy in parts, it was who is the bad guy/good guy parts. It was short, but good, and for me, not being my first genre pick, it was good. I won’t give any more spoilers for anybody who may decide to read it.
